Period of Contract

The contract of work of Sports Assistants will be for 11 months (excluding vacation). The contract will be automatically terminated after the completion of the contract period of eleven months.

6 Authority to make contract

This contract will be made by the ‘School Management Committee (SMC).

At the end of the contract, the performance will be reviewed and if found suitable, a new contract will be made based on the review.

Working Hours

The sports assistants on contract basis will be required to provide proper training to the students who have special interest and skills in a particular sport during the working days of the school during the school hours and during the extra time, in addition to the sports subject, to the students who have special interest and skills in a particular sport, so that they can develop properly in that sport. In addition, the school will be required to perform any assigned tasks related to academic and co-curricular activities.

Guidelines and Conditions.

School Selection for Allotment of Sports Assistant:

Priority will be given to large government primary schools in the state with a student population of 300 or more. Samagra Shiksha Katheer, Gandhinagar will assign one ‘Sports Assistant’ on a contractual basis to each such school.

Process of Allotment of Sports Assistants in Schools:

1. Samagra Shiksha Katheer, Gandhinagar is to take work from Sports Assistants every year. A ‘list’ of vacancies in such schools will be published and applications will be invited by advertisement and priority will be given if the Sports Assistant chooses the school in which he was in the previous year.

II. Candidates from that merit list will be able to apply for these posts on the basis of the merit list of ‘SAT’ published by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar and will give their choice online as to which school/schools they wish to work as ‘Sports Assistants’ among the schools declared on the portal.

III. After that, the entire Education Office, Gandhinagar will prepare a list of school-wise sports assistants on the basis of Merit cum Preference, which will be sent to the ‘School Management Committee (SMC)’ through the District Primary Education Officer/Administrator of that district.

IV. After receiving the list, the concerned ‘School Management Committee’ will have to sign an agreement with the allotted candidate and keep him as a sports assistant in that school.

Review of the performance of sports assistants and process of making new contracts:

a. Sports assistants will generally have to be given a contract of 11 months. This contract will be done by the ‘School Management Committee (SMC).

b. At the end of the contract, the performance will be reviewed.

1. In addition to the members of the ‘School Management Committee (SMC)’ for review, the ‘Cluster Resource Coordinator (CRC)’ of that cluster will also be a member.

ii. If the performance of the Sports Assistant is found satisfactory at the end of the review, a certificate of satisfactory performance will be issued by the School Management Committee (SMC). They will be able to apply afresh.

iii. Sports Assistants who are unable to obtain a certificate of satisfactory performance will not be able to apply for Sports Assistantship for the next one year.

Procedure for allocating sports assistant to another school:

I. Sports assistant will be allotted to a government primary school in the state with a student population of 300 or more. Sports assistants retained on contract basis will have to be released after the contract period ends.

II. If the released sports assistant applies in the next year to another school or another district/town in which the school with a student population of 300 or more has been fixed, the Samagra Shiksha Kathetra, Gandhinagar will allocate the same on the basis of Merit cum Preference.

III. If the number of students decreases below 300 in the second year while fixing the school for allotment of sports assistants and the school was selected in the first year and the number of students in this school decreases by up to 10%, that school can be included in the list.

Payment of Higher Honorarium of Sports Assistants:

I. The sports assistants allotted for the primary schools run by the District Education Committee / Town Education Committee will be paid the fixed honorarium at the higher rate.

II. For this, the higher honorarium will be paid through the Samagra Education Office, Gandhinagar through Direct Bank Transfer.

III. The contract to be made with the sports assistants will be for 11 (eleven) months. If any sports assistant is kept working for more than that, the excess amount paid to them will be recovered from the personal salary of the Principal

and for that, the Principal will be recovered from the Principal and disciplinary action will be taken. The District Primary Education Officer and Administrative Officer will have to take necessary precautions in this regard.

IV. The grant for this scheme shall be allocated by the Director, Primary Education, Gandhinagar to the Samagra Shiksha Kathetra, Gandhinagar and Samagra Shiksha shall allocate the grant to the concerned district/town keeping in mind the number of candidates allotted by them.

Periodic increase in honorarium:

After the completion of two years of this scheme, the State Government will consider increasing the maximum honorarium.

Duration of Sports Assistant Scheme:

I. This scheme will be in force during the period of the ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ project i.e. till the academic year 2027-28.

II. The candidate coming as a sports assistant for taking contractual services under this scheme will not have any other service-related claim. The District Primary Education Officer, Administrative Officer and the Principals of the respective schools shall strictly implement the guidelines.

III. After the completion of the ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ project, this scheme will be reconsidered by the Government. The expenditure in this regard shall be made within the limits of the budgetary provision of that year.
